Default Carling Contura II Switches

Does anyone have opinions on these switches? I'm looking to install a set of them with all the coding for lights/lockers etc.
Has anyone wired these (or similar switch) so that when you turn on your headlights, when it gets dark, the backlit feature comes on so you can read them?

Anyone know what colour wire behind the dash to relay to make the secondary lights (bottom light, not the one that goes on when the switch is activated) go on with the OEM driving lights?
