Rear brakes and rotors TOAST @ 60,000 miles....
My 2008 2 dr Rubicon has 60,200 miles on her now. This weekend I was changing the PCV valve, cleaning the throttle bodies, etc. I rotated the tires and noticed the brakes were GONE on the rear. The rotors needed turned as well. Took them down to O'Reilly's, they tell me they are non-serviceable... Luckily, new ones are only $40 each (no wonder they only last 60k)
The front brakes are fine, both rotors and pads.. Is this normal? Something out of adjustment? I figured they would wear more evenly...

Are you complaining about getting ONLY 60,000 miles out of a set of brakes? If yes, how many miles do you think you should get? I mean they are a wearing item like tires or belts.

Wow you reach 60k miles with the factory rear pads?! My factory pads were gone at 25k miles! I had the rotors turned, and I added new pads from Autozone. That service has carried me to 100,000 miles. I have about 25% pad left before they reach the wear indicators and the factory rotors will have to be replaced at that time.
The wear of the JK's brakes are different and unique to each Jeep and driver. Personal driving characteristics along with the various factory electronic braking systems correcting or assisting the driver will lead to different results. Of course larger tires, gearing, and offroad usage will also affect brake wear and performance.

I wasn't really shocked at the 60,000 brake pad replacement. The rotor being toast and the huge difference in wear compared to the front brakes is what had me concerned. Sounds like it is normal for these jeeps.
Thanks for the feedback!
