You spin the tires in a straight line a little bit with the button pushed. Most systems are off in four low, but what is the point if you are in two high. My 2012 JK has tried to drive it self twice before I put the switch in. The second time it almost caused an accident. Both times the Jeep was drifting slightly, once in light snow & once in heavy rain. I never took my foot off the throttle, but the Jeep did. Then the jeep decided it was a good idea for the ABS to hit the brakes.
Now if it rains or snows I just turn off the switch. Then I can drive it like a normal Jeep, and not worry about the Nanny Systems. I have never used it off-road because in low it turns itself off, and in high I just hold the button in for seven seconds till it chimes & the systems turn off.

from 2012 up you can hold the trac button for 5-7 seconds to disable the whole esp system, has worked on mine in 2wd and 4hi, keep holding it for like 20-30 seconds and everything seems to disable, abs included, and wont turn back on till the jeep is restarted

Ok, i'm pretty good at taking things apart, but I just can't figure this out. I pulled up on the cup holder part and got that loose. How do you get the 4x4 knob off? And then there is the 2 screws on each side, in the back for the center then what's next? I can't get the back of the center consol up high enough to see the wires, much less try to work under there.

Should be able to lift the rear console part up enough and prop something under it so you can get in there to see wires from the rear seat. If you have a two door I'm not sure how to proceed.
