Default Check engine light

Today while driving my 13 JKU with 41100 miles on it, the check engine light came on along with the gas cap warning, u checked the gas cap and retightened the cap and the check engine light stayed on, how can I get it to go off? Do I need to go to the dealer? Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Disconnect the neg terminal on the battery for 15 minutes. Reconnect and see if light comes back on. If so, one place to look is a hose going to the Evap canister by firewall on driver side. Grab that hose and twist it a little bit.
My gas cap light on my 2012 came on a couple of years ago and the tweak of that hose on the Evap canister fixed it.

I had that happen to my 2013 jku also. After tightening the gas cap it went off but took a while of driving for it to finally go off. It has happened a few times but has alway gone off after a while.

I've been called worse. Please clarify what made your error message go away - disconnecting the battery or tweaking the hose.
