Default Storage for a 2 door.

I just started my first attempt at working with metal to make a storage rack for ammo cans. I have not had a back seat for awhile now I wanted to clean up where things were stored. I also wanted some that would not let the cans slide around. So I bought some 2 inch angle iron and a couple more 50 cal ammo cans from Quadratec. I built the rack to hold 4 50 cal cans and one 7.62. The bottom has the foam used for truck shells and a the all thread is used as an anchor point for a ratchet strap to hold everything down.

Great project, I am teaching myself how to weld and I found it to be a lot of fun. I was also researching ammo cans yesterday (for actual ammo) but learned how versatile they are for other stuff. Ended up buying 4 at Harbor Freight for $4.99 each. They will go inside my safe so not a lot of danger there.

Also, a very innovative way of attaching the rack to the Jeep. How do you keep the cans from getting out of the rack while driving? Edit: I think I see a ratchet strap on the last picture.

I have a 1K rated ratchet strap that attaches to the seat anchor point. I believe (and might be wrong) the ratchet strap is like rope a 4:1 safety margin. So far no rattles and everything stays put.

Wow! That's a pretty good idea. Good job!
