Default What it be..?

Hola all,

Just got back into anothr Jeep, bought a '14 JKU preowned, and have a small button/module installed on the lower kickpanel. Anyone ever seen something like this before..?

Never seen anything like it. The adjustability is on par with cabinet catch magnets.

Negative.. Its more like a hard cover.. I didn't attempt to pop it off, as I discovered it jumping in to leave for work this morning. The red button is soft rubber akin to some garage door openers I've seen..

Top of it doesnt seem to pop off...I guess Ill remove it and see if any markings or manufacturer on back...its got 2 wires coming out and is wired into part of the loom behind the dash. May need to spend some time to see where it runs to..just odd part. I've been around cars, trucks, jeeps, etc for 30 plus years and never seen anything like it.

I'm wondering....the Jeep has AMP power steps...Could this be a momentary switch to pull the electric running boards UP when doors are off..?

On my 2011 there is an item screwed to the lower kick panel that looks similar to that which is part of the alarm/immobilizer system.

My 08 has the alarm thing there too. No button I've ever noticed, though it is about the same size

Maybe to control the brakes during a flat tow?
