Sorry my post is on page 47 and 48 with my experience of the "Hot Oil' light.
Hence the delay in PICs.
I did not install a fluid temp gauge, so I guess I will rely on the idiot lite, it would seem from my last experience that when the lite comes on, the fluid is really hot enough and it's time to stop and cool her down due to the odor from the fluid...
Even though the tranny is really inadequately cooled by the factory equipment for heavy loads, I do take the blame for this one incident cause I did not follow the owners manual. Once I followed the manual to the letter, I had no problems leaving the beach. It's impossible to know that your ESP is operating while crawling in 12" of loose sand for over a mile. Guess it's like trying to crawl with your left knee, and right hand only.

Default bigger b&m cooler

Was anyone bought the larger (11x11x1.5) oil cooler and tried it out? B&M part number is 70274. Interested in doing this asap, just don't want to spend $240 () for the ORW set up. Looking for a little better cooling than the smaller unit used in the write up.

Awesome write up! I'm thinking about installing the tranny cooler on the right side of the radiator and a 16" electric fan on the left side. This way, I cam assure my tranny and radiator are flushing cool coolant. Any thoughts or suggestions about doing this? Has anyone attempted?

Default Where did you buy your Trans Cooler From??

Some really great installations and an awesome OP and directions, Had a run in with the dreaded HOT OIL light. First trip towing my 2550# trailer up to Big Bear lake, Ca. with my new tires 285/70-17's. I have taken the trailer up 3 times before this and had no problems, but now with the bigger tires its to hot. I have purchased a superchips programer and will use the heavy tow tune in the future but I also want to do this mod.
Where have you all been ordering/buying your coolers from? Seems like none of the local chain stores carry the B&M cooler. Or does the manufacturer really make no difference? And how many of you have installed a temp guage? thinking I would rather keep an eye on the temp from now on.

Thanks for any input you all can add.

I found my B&M cooler on Amazon. Super easy install. Last week I installed a B&M temp gauge, also from Amazon. It came as a kit that included everything I needed to install. Normal driving shows the temp around 130 degrees coming out of the cooler.

I'm pulling my new 3,000# trailer over to Pismo Beach tomorrow and have to climb the coastal range to get there. This will be my first big test with the new trailer. Mods I've installed include: CAI, performance exhaust, Superchip tuner, and the trans cooler. I'm anxious to report back on how my Jeep performs.

Great write up! Did mine last night. Did my brackets slightly different, and used a giant black marker to make all the brackets black without having to wait for paint to dry! :-)
