DSP the timing cover if it was porisoty should have leaked right away. Is yours a front seal? Locktite makes a product to seal porisoty in castings that might be worth a try before you buy a new casting.

I would make a comment that maybe you should leave JeepGirl drive it instead of you but that wouldnt be right.

Normally TSBs are only advisory to aid the technician when troubleshooting/repairing. There is no obligation to do it for free. The timing cover and labor were covered on mine because the cover was defective and it fell within the warranty period. The TSB's only function was to point the tech in that direction.

It's not new, but not all JKs are covered.

From the Warranty literature:
You are covered by the Lifetime Powertrain
Limited Warranty if you are the first registered
owner or lessee for use of the vehicle sold and
delivered on or after July 26, 2007. Subsequent
owners or lessees, even if they are within the
same family or business, are not covered.

So why one would be and one would not? Just based on the dealer choice or something bigger? Just curious, I've never heard of or seen a wrranty be so selective unless its a "wear and tear" item. Which then it would be a battle of reasonable usage and wear and tear...

Maybe I don't understand your question.
I thought why some are not covered was spelled out quite clearly:

Just talked to Jeep, it is the Rear Main seal. They said the Transmission was not seated correctly when they torqued it down, they also said they have repaired this issue a few times in the past months.

Oh well, their giving me a Rental and at least its under warranty.
