Default 8.8 swap

I found an 8.8 rear end for $75. The tag says it is 4.55 gears I am in the process of lifting it 4.5” and putting on 33’s. Will this work or do I need to re gear and do I need to regear the front

If you want to maintain the ability to use 4wd, yes, you'll need to make sure you re-gear so your axles have matching ratios.

... and it's a good thing I noticed what section this was in, I was about to say some stuff about 4.55's with 33's, but I don't really know anything about the specifics of that sort of things for XJs. It would be pretty far off for a JK, but for an XJ, maybe not.
