Jet stage 1 chip
Just did my first trip to work with the stage I ... being that I paid $185 for the chip on sale I think that it made a great deal of difference in the drivability of the JK. doesn't make it a hotrod , but you can ease into the gas without the Airaid growl being overwhelming and the downshift of the automatic. so far I'm overall pleased with the product. Easy install...undo the negative cable of battery (won't lose sirius or fm presets, will lose clock) unplug a cable from ecm plug chip in, plug cable into chip, reconnect ground and start JK. Once again this is not going to give you tire chirping power but more overall driving power. I would deffinately do it again.

nope, higher octane is only required on stage 2 chips... and let me tell you, it's totally worth it. I was hesitant to get the stage 2 and finally talked myself into it, and i couldn't be happier.

JET stage 1 chip
I'd say the Stage 1 chip adds 10 real HP judging by TSOMP (The Seat Of My Pants). Stage 1 does a much better job off line than stock! It really helps down low where the 3.8L sucks the worst.
Mileage is 22-23mpg doing 55-60 mph on very flat roads and steady traffic using cruise control - on 91 octane.
Specifics: otherwise stock Rubicon with 4:10 gears and automatic. Soft top up (rain), AC on, 4 people and beach gear.

Better than stock
I'll chime in here with my experience with the stage1 Jet. With reading what the others have writen about their experience I have to back their claims that you can feel a difference but just worthy of the comment. If I were to pick a phrase it would be "better than stock".
