Looking at relocation, possibly Bakersfield?
Hi guys, looking to possibly relocate. Some locations in California fit my active lifestyle, jeeps and bikes. Looking at Bakerfield or possibly Sonora. Having lived in Rialto in my high school days I am somewhat concerned with the state laws and will have to make adjustments. What does the Bakersfield area have to offer if you can please give advice.
Thanks guys!

You will have to get used to the State trying to intrude on everything you do with more dumb laws and more taxes. The tradeoff is a LOT to do on your offtime and great weather. Also, some good wheeling pretty close to Bakersfield out in the Mohave. Not a very nice town though, but look where I live! It is not a nice town either as far as a lot of things go!

Bakersfield. Looks a lot like OK but with mountains (when the smog lets you see them). Politically right leaning. 4 wheeling wise its about 6 hours to loone lake (the Rubicon). 3 hours to johnson valley (the hammers, cougar butes). 2 hours from the coast. 3 hours to Shaver Lake area (Best trails in Cali IMO). There are several Jeep Trails within an hour or two of town. Summer can really suck here sometimes, high temps in the 100-110 range are typical.
As far as crime goes its like anywhere, there are bad parts and good parts of town. Stay away from MLK Boulevard and Cottonwood Road and pretty much everywhere else is pretty normal except Oildale (Not necessarily bad people but definitely trailer trashy).
