So I took the Jeep back to the collision shop today and he agreed that it was running a little hot. We waited for it to cool down and found the coolant level was a little low. I noticed the coolant he was about to use was HOAT. I told him 13s use OAT, so he got some from car quest. Then his mechanic drained the radiator and filled it with the OAT. So now I have mixed coolant. It's still running hot at idle, but I'm not going anywhere this weekend, so he sent me off with a bottle of antifreeze. Then about an hour ago I looked at the bottle, thinking it was 50/50, and it says add water. I'm about 75% sure that my engine is full of 100% antifreeze. I'm going to flush the radiator and the engine tomorrow and fill it the right way and see if that fixes anything.

Yeah. This is after waiting 2 months for them to have time to work on it and USAA to alow them to work on it because it had frame damage. They worked on it for almost a month. The body work they did was good at least. I just don't trust them with anything mechanical.

I drained the coolant today, flushed it and filled with a 50/50 mix of Mopar OAT and distilled water. And what door ya know it idles right around 206-8 and drives at 195-200. It's amazing what happens when your radiator actually has some water in it.

Dang glad to hear you are making progress.

Nothing like having to tell the shop what coolant to use, and they still f it up by putting in 100% coolant.

Pays to know you jeep and to DIY.

Looks like the guy who worked on my Jeep strikes again. He doesn't even work there anymore, and I've been getting a P0456 since I got it back, so I looked at all the connections for the evaporative system, and I found where he snapped off a small line coming from the gas tank and just RTVed it back on. They're going to fix it next week though.

OO EE
Is this place still in business? Give us the name and they won't be!
Clue #1 - 2 month body work job? Clue#2 - worker pussy whipped enough that he can't order a new part in that he broke and RTV'd a hose? Clue#3 - they let go of the worker and not the manager
Sounds like a place I'd use knowing that
