Well I will be picking up my JKUR tomarrow morning and will be listening for this trany noise issue on the test drive. Hope to have a trouble free first Jeep and smile every mile.. This issue isn't in any forum threads for 2012 JK so, maybe its not a large scale problem.

It's a 3.6 like the '12s.

Dice, I just shared your post with the Service Rep at Kahlo (Jamie). It's been three days since I took in my JK and they still haven't figured out the problem, but they're working hard at it. The Kahlo guys have made multiple calls to Chrysler engineers. Looks like there's a design or manufacturing flaw in the 2013. Too bad...I only waited nearly 25 years to buy another Jeep. (My first "car" was a CJ7.)

I'll give them a call today so they have my info and can start to keep track of it.

my 13 is going in for it's first service next week and I am having them look into the same problem. THe sound is most notable on quicker shifts but worst in 2nd 3rd and 4th gears around 1800-2200 rpms.

Good idea. My service techs are now telling me that the Chrysler engineers are considering sending a whole new transmission. I'll keep you guys posted.

Subscribing. I think my 2012 started making a similar noise, but I tend to shift below 2k and I chalked it up to poor fitment on the console when I heard it. I'll pay closer attention to it on my way home from work today to see if mine's doing it too.

I've heard in my 12. Mine sounds like a diesel motor sort of. I've heard it when in neutral just idling and then just go away.

I started hearing the rattling at 2000 rpm almost immediately. I only have about 800 miles on my 2013 JKU 6-speed now...and today my dealer informed me that Chrysler has decided to replace my transmission with a new one. I won't have my Jeep back until sometime next week, I hope. We'll see how this all turns out, but I'm troubled by the fact it seems my situation is not unique. Still, Chrysler and my dealer (Kahlo in Noblesville, Indiana) deserve a lot of credit for their great service and commitment to get this right.
