he also says, if you don't want a vehicle that bleeds money, don't buy a jeep.

Hi, yes this is my first post to this forum. Im a 2-week new 2014 Rubicon owner but have used this, and wranglerforum as great research tools in deciding to shed my f150 for a JKR. Loving it so far!

I too think this thread may be prematurely slanted to refer to this as a major widespread engine flaw with the 3.6, but that being said, the problem _does_ appear to exist in some 3.6's across brands and Im glad that I am now at least aware of it to keep an eye out. (Thanks Co-utah). Ive learned a lot from these threads, better to be informed. If this happens to me i will be pi**ed. If it happens offroad I will be furious.

This reminds of a F350/6.0 powerstroke diesel I had that developed the infamous "oil cooler/EGR problem", and grenaded just days after I traded it. That problem was never addressed by ford (except building a new motor) but the forums were dripping with 1000s of posts on the issue. We are not anywhere close to that here (yet anyway).

If anyone is interested here is the original thread on WF started in May
2014 cracked oil cooler housings - looks like a serious issue - Jeep Wrangler Forum

4+ months later, it hasnt seemed to go viral/rampant (yet), I hope it stays that way!

Default 2nd Jeep with oil leaks.

So, I had a 2013 JK that had an oil leak at 4900 miles on it, rear main seal then the upper oil pan... I was at the dealer 6 times for this. After the dealer was not able to fix and it, it was Lemon Laws.
Now i have a 2014 with an oil leak at 4447 miles. I'm heading to the dealer in the morning to see what they way. It look like the rear main seal again but after reading this about the oil cooler,,, well, i'll have to get back with y-all.

I thought I was good with my 2013 but im at 14,000 miles on it and I crawled under it to grab a screwdriver i dropped on the garage floor.. noticed engine oil-wetness around the rear part of the engine.. so off to the dealer it will go.. it hasnt gotten bad enough to smoke or drip yet... I did recently get an oil change but I dont think oil-spillage would go where this is.. a bit miffed that the dealer didnt say anything about the oil wetness though at that time..

I am big on preventative maintenance, I believe it is better to take care of a problem before it becomes a crisis. So with that being said, today I will drain all my engine oil and prevent this disastrous leak from starting.. Thanks for the helpful insight on this issue

I have a 2014 JKU with 12,200 miles. It's now on the dealer for oil leak issues. Service advisor told me this is a long job. :(
