Ball Joint socket and tools needed
Ello all,
Could use some help. I have a 2010 jku sahara.
Going to replace ball joints. I want to k ow the complete set of tools needed to do so. I've got a rented press kit and typica 3/8 and 1/2 drive wrneches and sockets up to19mm. Also have a pickle fork and a sledge hammer and a torque wrench. What else is needed? Socket sizes?
Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance!

13mm 12 point socket or wrench to remove the hub assembly bolts (3) A 35mm or 36mm socket to remove the main hub retaining nut. I've used both before A nice break bar or cheater bar, the ball joints can be stubborn I think the castle nuts are 22mm on the ball joints but I could be wrong. Front caliper bolts are 21 mm.

Rent a ball joint press and soak everything in PB Blaster (or your preferred penetrating oil) for a day or so. The press will make life much easier. Also, droop the axle as far as it'll go down on the side you're working on and pull the coil. This will make using the ball joint press much easier as it won't contact the spring or the upper spring bucket.

Search for nipple in conjunction with the bj tool, it makes life easier. I'll be doing a set this weekend.

You may find this useful. Look about two-thirds of the way down for images of replacing the BJs on my Jeep. Read the captions for tools used, torque values, etc.

I am interested in this also, been looking at upgrading the oem ball joints to Dynatrac on Rare Parts. Debating on just letting a shop do them when I have c's done and truss welded up.
Thanks for the thread

Thanks for all the help guys. I'v encountered some seriously stuck ball joints. I'm gonna press em hard and whack with a hammer. If that doesn't work, torch is next. These f'ers are in there tight! Had to rent a puller for the tie rod ends too, those were stuck too. Lol front end work always has some challenges.
