Can I remove TPMS and just put normal valve stems on factory wheels?
#11
Funny thing happened with my sensors. I have an 07 auto 4 dr and i took it to get the new wheels and tires put on. Told the tire shop about the sensors and had the new stems ready. Turns out my factory wheels did not have sensors....? We checked all the wheels and not one had it. I couldnt explain it, but it turned out to be a lot cheaper. Not sure why mine did not come with sensors.

Ouch! That's why the TPMS comes with the gray caps. Not only so you know there's a TPMS sensor inside but so there's something that wouldn't react to the aluminum stem. You just performed a science experiment called "Bi-metal electrolysis corrosion"!
You CAN get rid of the TPMS Sensor if you don't mind the ding (x5 assuming you do the spare too) and can live with the butt symbol (_!_).
You can disable the TPMS with something like the AEV Procal, but that will set you back ~$129. May be cheaper to try to find a deal on Ebay for the sensors. Or live with the down sides. Your choices!

In '07 half of production vehicles had to have TPMS. In '08 and after all had to. That means that most (all reputable) tire dealers will not work on your tires without TPMS mounted.
So if you remove them and you have an '08 or newer they cannot mount, remove, add or change your vehicle's tires without TPMS. I would suggest getting your TPMS fixed and maintain them with the proper valve caps.

Not true. The law requires the TPMS light to work, but makes specific provisions for removing the TPMS sensors. Here's the full text of the rule. Good bedtime reading.
