It seems to me that antifreeze is antifreeze. All the antifreeze sold in my local auto store say they are compatible with all makes and models. I topped off my Jeep with the yellow colored Prestone and so far so good. It's been at least 30K miles. It still looks, feels, and smells like antifreeze.

I can't believe I had to use Google to figure out what type of Anti-freeze I needed to put in my JK. I read the manual "The manufacturer recommends using MOPAR Antifreeze/Coolant 5 Year/100,000 Mile Formula HOAT (Hybrid Organic Additive Technology)." Ok, off to the auto-parts store......Browse the shelf....GM Dexcool, Toyota, Hundai, Ford compatible, Prestone......where the heck is the Chrysler compatible? Where is this Mopar/Hoat stuff??? Continue to stare at the shelf scratching my head. Leave store frustrated...no one around to assist. Get home....Go to Google...find this thread. I just wanted to top my coolant off. If I got to order the stuff, I might as well do a complete flush since I'm due anyways. I never imagined topping off my engine coolant was going to be so damn difficult.

I ordered 2 Gallons of the unmixed Mopar stuff. $17/gal P/N:68048953AB (This is the HOAT mixture for 2012 and older)
2013+ JKs take the OAT mixture P/N: 68163849AA
Manual says 13 Quarts. Hopefully, those 2 gallons should cover replacing it.

I forget the specifics, but all JK's don't take the same stuff. There was a change between model years. Maybe someone who knows those details can respond.

Found this thread when I was looking for the same thing. Pretty sure I topped off my coolant the gold prestone bottle probably more than a year ago and haven't noticed any difference.

Adding Engine Coolant
Your vehicle has been built with an improved engine
coolant (antifreeze) that allows extended maintenance
intervals. This engine coolant (antifreeze) can be used up
to 5 Years or 102,000 miles (170 000 km) before replacement.
To prevent reducing this extended maintenance
period, it is important that you use the same engine
coolant (antifreeze) throughout the life of your vehicle.
Please review these recommendations for using Hybrid
Organic Additive Technology (HOAT) engine coolant
(antifreeze).
NOTE: Mixing engine coolant (antifreeze) types will
decrease the life of the engine coolant (antifreeze) and
will require more frequent engine coolant (antifreeze)
changes.

Great info on this site:
http://wayalife.com/showthread.php?1...ve-Your-Engine!
2012 and lower use HOAT. 2013 and above use OAT. There are severe warnings about mixing the two.

Maybe you got lucky. Why take the risk? Maybe save $10 and risk damaging your cooling system & engine? The disastrous results of mixing two different types in our jeeps has been well documented.

2007-2012 takes HOAT P/N:68048953AB (unmixed) or P/N:68051212AB (Pre-Mixed)
