Dealer neutered my jk help!!!!!
I just got a Transmission ECM update THAT I DID NOT ASK FOR while my 2012 Jeep JK was in the shop for a bad wheel sensor. Dealer said it was a factory update and they "updated it for me".
Well if I was drivin a compact sedan I would be ecstatic because the update increased my fuel mileage by 2 mpg....................problem is I had plenty of power and torque to yank my boat anywhere I wanted to with out hardly knowin it was behind me but now I feel like I am draggin the boat down the highway with no wheels on the trailer...........GRRRRRRR.
Raised hell and they told me sorry but we do not have the means to return it to the factory setting it came with. Told them to put it back or buy me a programmer. Shop foreman said that this a C.A.F.E. standard driven update! So make sure if you take your JK to a dealer for anything that they DO NOT UPDATE YOUR TRANNY ECM VALUES!!!!!!!
My jeep has 373 gears and I actually looked at my differential covers to see if they yanked my 373's and installed 321's! LOL
Which programmer will give me back my horsepower and torque ?
Please help my Jeep has been neutered.

The jeep has been off the showroom floor and out of the calculations for fleet average since the '13s came out. There should be no way a C.A.F.E. mandated update exists. I'd have to call BS on that, I'm thinking they blew that one past you so you wouldn't keep demanding the original tune back. I may be wrong on this, but....

do you have a shop with tuners in your area? i would stop by and ask them which tuners will work for this, i have no experience with them other then reading about them on this forum so not an expert or even novice on tuners, but im sure you can educate yourself quickly enough to find an affordable solution to fix this scenario. you could also try raising hell with chrysler over the dealer doing this update, but even if they did something about it it would be 6-9 months from now, you might be happier getting yourself that tuner instead of wasting a year fighting it.....

Oh they didn't blow it past me, I aint done yet. I have a meeting with the owner of the dealership on Monday. I met him before on a non car related basis and we kinda hit it off over mopar performance discussions.
What I need is a JEEP tech to let me know if the Foreman lied to me or if his story is possibly legit about not bein able to set tranny back to original factory program ..................before I meet on Monday. Any body know a Mopar tech on the Forum that they can bump my thread to?

the new trannies have a learning curve. Just go out and hot rod the heck out of it for a couple hundred miles and it will be back to normal. Your old download was a result of how you drive and it takes a bit for the computer to adjust. They essentially erased your computers shifting memory so you need to reteach it. I am pretty sure that the dealership is required to do updates when you bring your vehicle in which is a good reason not to bring it in.

mine is a 6 speed too however
Most updates either for automatic , manual, regardless , resets the ecm it seems . It would still result in driving a couple of hundred miles before things go back to the norm . So being a stick shift or not it would effect your ride for a bit.

After a ecu has been reprogrammed there is no way of returning it to the original program. Only after market programers can go back and forth. Even if they order a new ecu it would come flashed with the latest software. I've been doing factory up dates to ECMs for the last 8 years.
