Defective Head In 2012s
Hi Guys, By chance does anyone know the part number on the defective cylinder head found in so many of the 2012s? I had heard some made it to the 2013s and I want to see if I have the defective one in my 2013 Rubi. Thanks!

this might be what your looking for
n June 2012, dealers reported that some engines had premature cylinder head failures, usually on cylinder 2. The problem seems rare considering the number of these engines produced, and nobody was stranded by the problem, which made itself known through the “check engine” light. Customers were generally given loaner cars while the issue was being resolved, though in some cases there was a considerable delay as Chrysler engineers sought root causes (which include “bad gas”) and an effective cure. A fix (hardened valve guides and seats) was engineered and entered production in June, and by mid-July, the backlog of replacement heads was being addressed, and all new heads were of the new design.
Most vehicles with this problem appear to be Jeep Wranglers, and a service bulletin was issued for Wranglers built before January 24, 2012 (MDH 0124XX) seems to be designed to prevent “false positive” check-engine lights.
Any model year 2013 and newer car or Jeep or truck should have the new heads. A “Julian” build date of 2062 (the 206th day of 2012) stamped on the cylinder head shows that it is one of the newer types. The part numbers of the new heads are RL141353AC or higher (left side) and RL141352AD (right side)
over 20,000 miles still no code on mine as of yet ! on a november of 2011 build for my 2012 rubicon

So glad that my 2012 is still going strong with no issues. Celebrated its 2nd birthday this week. Has over 41,000 trouble free miles. Mine was built right around the end of January 2012. I ordered mine because I wanted max tow and no dealers had that on their lots. Of the 41,000 miles, at least 4000 miles has been spent towing a heavy trailer. At times, this was in 95 degree heat. Still no tick and no CEL. Runs great.

I just celebrated my Jeep's 2nd birthday. Not sure the build date but it would have been late 2011 or early 2012. It was running fine until my check engine light came on. A week in the shop and the cylinder head was replaced.
