I'm actually considering selling my hardtop now that I have a decent soft top.
Other than urban security and rear window wiper I don't see any major benefit over the soft top.
It's heavy and takes up a lot of space when not in use.

Found an unused premium top on CL last week for $400 and so far I love it. Looks great, wind noise isn't bad and it doesn't leak at all.

Only complaint so far is I need to put the top all the way down to enjoy the sun. The "Sunrider" feature just sags on top of my head when I fold it back.

That and I'll want to murder the first seagull that craps on it!

You may not be folding it back properly if it sags on your head.

^This. As you fold it back you have to also fold the fabric back at the same time. Grab the center of the fabric above the door and pull it back to create a fold while flipping the bar. I do it while standing on my sliders, not from inside. Then you should be good to go.

I don't really know if this is how you are supposed to do it but it is the way I do and I haven't had any problems.

This is the correct way and a good photo showing what is known as the "W" fold.

I had a soft top on my TJ and two things convinced me to get a hard top with my JK. The first was putting the soft top down one afternoon when it was 80 left it down only to wake up to 40 degrees. Needless to say it was cold drive to work. The second was when I parked at the metro station in Virginia and someone ripped the back window zipper and slept in the backseat.

Same here. On my '09 I ran soft top year round. I just ordered a Bestop for my new Jeep, & I plan to get rid of the hard top. If I lived above the Mason-Dixon Line, I might use both, but we don't get much snow here.

No regrets - love my premium top and use it exclusively all year without issues. I fold back into sunrider mode all the time; to avoid the "sag" I just quickly shove/tuck the excess fabric back in between the fold as I swing the roof back.

My last two Jeeps I had dual tops.
This time I went soft top only. The only thing nice about the hard top was the rear window access.
I found that I was keeping the soft top on longer and longer.
The sunrider feature on the newer tops made the soft top even better.
We get plenty of snow up here and it's no problem. Just don't let too much snow pile up on it.
I don't regret my choice.

That's why you take the 60 seconds to put the soft top back up... You know they do go back up right lol
Sleeping is ok at least they didn't steal anything

I have both now since I just bought my soft top. I'm not sure yet which one I like better. The soft top is mossier considerably since I have the thin bestop super top.

The benefits to the the soft top is that it's quicker to pull back the top then it is to take off the freedom panels. No need to store them either. Also can go topless even faster.

Hard top rear window, wiper, security and quiet.

It's going to be a pain in the arse but I'm planning on switching to my hardtop come October.
