Default Fridge in your jeep

Who is running a refrigerator in their Jeep. What do you have and how does it work for you?

Are they reliable long term with all the bouncing around?

I have been running the ARB for 5 years. One of the best purchases I have made. Runs all night no problem with my diehard platinum battery.

Coleman thermoelectric cooler at walmart for about $100. Been working well for me. It's very lightweight.

I just ordered a 28 quart one from Igloo off Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Igloo-Iceless...ler&th=1&psc=1

For $64 for Prime members, if it sucks, I'll send it back.

I don't do enough long distance travel, nor do I have the space, to justify $800 for an ARB.

ARB for about 14 years without issues as long as 4 days. I have always had 2 AMG batteries either Sears Platinum or Hawker Odyssey.

I use them with a Good Samaritan Dual Battery System, now sold by Painless.

Dometic 61L dual zone fridge freezer on Amazon. Works awesome and has been on over 4k miles of overlanding trips in the last 2.5 years with no issues.

Boy, that one seems pretty budget friendly. I'd not considered fridges before due to cost, but that isn't much more than buying a regular dang cooler.

....as I sit here throwing ice in a cooler to head to Big Bend for a few days. <sigh>

I own the Smittybilt 52 qt cooler.

I don't offroad as much as I'd like but it does a fantastic job keeping things cool while I'm out. Very low power draw and comparable to the ARB by about $200 bucks. Just strap it down and you should have no problems.

How do these do in hotter temps? Here in socal it can get 100+ in the summer and all the units I see only cool to 30-40 below outside temp. which means drinks only get to 60*-70*.

Thermoelectric ones are cheap (under $100) and will keep things cooler than ambient temp by 10-30 degrees. Not worth it in my opinion (just use ice for the day)

True fridge freezers like Dometic, ARB, and Whynter are going to cost $500+ but will keep items as low as -15 below zero no matter what the temp outside is.
