Default front axle leaking?

hello all,

i noticed my front axle in my 07 jk seems to be seeping oil from around the bolts. it's not dripping or anything, just the spots around the bolts for now

here's a pic

i was under the jeep yesterday and it wasn't like this, and i did go off-roading today, but i didn't do anything to severe ... i think.

i touched it with my hand, and it doesn't seem to be wet... feels more like powder, i guess the oil mixed with the dirt on it?

is this likely just the seal that'll need to be replaced? i've been searching some and that seems like a pretty easy thing to do... but the car is still under factory warranty and i was wondering if i should just take it in for that reason.

any thoughts would be appreciated

Just change it. Its easy. reseal and the problem will go away. Bolt tightness will or will not fix it. re seal it and everything should be all good.

well i actually was planning on changing the diff oil next week or so.

since i'm gonna be doing that maybe reseal would be worth it.

what do you think of this? http://www.quadratec.com/products/52416_100.htm

i saw some posts saying lubelocker was the way to go if you're gonna reseal

Tight it (respect the torque setting)
Same thing here when I had the JK. I tightened the bolts, and the oil spots disappeared

I have lube lockers front and rear... always had issues with leaks due to wheeling. Changed to them all problems stopped.

I asked because I've been thinking of using them. The company said they are not rated to be reused, although they said people have reused them.

Next time I have the covers off, I'll get a set.

yeah, i got down there with my torque wrench today and everything is perfect (tightness wise) so i guess what i'll do is get that lubelocker seal and just put it on when i change the diff oil

u might have bumped the cover on a rock or something and loosened the seal. silicone once its dry and moved it breakes the seal. just looks like a little seepage.. i would not worry about it.
