Hot oil light 2012 sport
I was driving for ten minutes from a cold start in 70 degree weather when the hot oil light came. Jeep went into limp mode and I pulled over. Ended up driving to dealership waiting to hear from them tomorrow. It was in 2 high on paved road. Anybody ever heard of that. Jeep has 2000 miles on it. Never off roaded yet. kinda stumped. Thanks in advanced guys.

That's the first I've heard of a 2012 getting the hot oil light, especially under such non-strenuous conditions.
Post up what they tell you. (I'll bet they come up with nothing.)
Have you mounted anything in front of the grill?

Scanned the jeep this morning. Receive code u0101 could not establish link with TCM. Still had the hot oil light. After it sat all weekend. Sounds like it might be a an electrical problem. Let's see what the dealership says today.

Under those situations my guess would be a faulty sensor, so long as your coolant is topped and your JK has plenty of oil in it. The fact you were in 2 high is weird. If you said 4 high then we'd know what you're problem is. Keep us posted because I am so curious....

Don't know whether this may help or not, but you are by no means the first person to get the HotOIl illumination in situations where it is simply not warranted. Make a long story short, dealer refused to do anything about it, started a case with LLC, and they agreed to install the Mopar auxiliary cooling unit. Since then, i have yet to have the illumination. Food for thought.

Yes, lots of people have had the hot oil light in the past. The pre-2012s have a very inadequate transmission cooler on the bottom of the A/C condenser, out of the main air flow.
Yours is a 2012. You already have a better transmission cooler than the pre-2012s have.
I'm leaning toward a computer or sensor problem in your case.

My 2011 had HOT OIL warnings frequently when I would drive on the beach. I didn't know it was the tranny until I checked on here. My 2012 has no issues, and the addition of the trans cooler on 2012's I'm guessing it's a sensor issue.
Best of luck, keep us posted.
