Default What would YOU do if the front locker on your Rubicon broke?

The front locker in my '07 Rubicon broke not too long ago after going up to 35s, and Ive been trying to decide what to do about it.

The factory lockers apparently suck, so I am not going to replace it with the same. Plus, they are outrageously expensive. I was thinking ARB. I would like to be able to wire the ARB into the factory rocker switch so I can run it like I did before and just at the compressor switch. Im not sure if thats doable or not.

What would you do?

Have you looked inside to see how it broke? Any chance you could post a picture of the failed parts?

No, I'll admit that pulling the axles and diff apart and putting it all back together is not something I'm real crazy about doing myself. I'm going to have to have a mech take a look. I did check that the solenoid is getting power.

It seems like it could only be a few different things, right? 4 wheel drive works, and it drives fine, just no locker. Until I know for sure whats wrong, its all guesswork.

Anyway, assuming the locker is broken and I need to replace it, I would like to hear what you would do, and why.

Thanks in advance for the knowledge.

Edited for a brain freeze moment. Sorry about that!

Generally if your locker is broke, you really know it. Any noises, what happens when you try to engage it? Checked relays? It's probably an electrical problem, not mechanical.

I finally got this thing taken care of. Apparently, the magnetic unit that actuates the locker was not completely engaging it. $600 fix. Better than the $2k I thought I would have to spend.

If it is broken I would probably wire in an electrically actuated one like a TJM locker or other type. Should work.
