Nitto Trail Grappler or Toyo Open Country R/T??
I have 2016 Freedom Edition JK 4-door
I had Duratrac 295/65/18 on order, but they have NO ETA on arrival.
So, I have two choices I could go with:
LT275/70R18, Nitto Trail Grappler
or
LT275/70R18, Toyo Open Country R/T
I am putting a Teraflex leveling kit on this weekend...
THOUGHTS?
Daily driver, some trails on the weekends...

I'm in Ontario Canada so I use 2 sets of tires Duratracs in winter ..... Great tire. But if you don't have winter then...... I'd suggest looking at the new Cooper STT Pro tires ...... I was thinking toyo open country at one point but once my MTR's come off my jeep this fall ..... I'm going with the coopers..... But you may not be into a mt tire.... Good luck

I'm running the Toyo Open Country RTs and they are very quiet on the road and capable off the road. The Nitto's are very similar, although I haven't actually run them.

i like the nitto
ive not had a set of toyos but these are pretty nice tires and wear nice , ill by a new set when these are gone. I put these on my 2011 sport then moved to my 12 rubicon and have been on for 5 years so close to 6 years of use & still have a lot of life to go least a year more
they are 33s and 10 ply e rated a bit stiff but built tougher than nails. id imagine they ride harsh compared to a d rated or c . but i dont mind that . very aggressive lugs not bad on ice snow mud but better in mud i feel but in nh we see it all and there on year round ( a set of rancho 9000 adj shocks made a big difference also just to toss that in)
Got them shipped from Discount Tires Direct ,mounted on mb 72 wheels and those guys will get my money again ! Only good things to say about them .
*note whatever your wheels are make sure , if you need hub centric rings or not
plastic ones worked for me on my wheels. But not all wheels will need the rings so just check first before mounting the wheel they fit into the hole in the wheel and snap in. maybe 5 bucks for 4 i think they cost, mine were for free

I have had the trail grapplers for a couple of years now. Daily driver and weekend warrior.
They drive fine on the street, not overly loud, and i have ~30k on them and i think i may get 30k more.
Off road they grip the rocks nice, mud doesnt seem to slow me down much. On tougher trails ( stock tires ) i would have to give it a lot of gas to get up. These just grab onto he rocks and go.
Assuming prices are comparable, i suggest the Trail Grapplers
No personal experience with the Toyo's, but they do seem to be a respected brand.
I bet you will be happy with either, but my vote is the Nitto's

Nitto & Toyo is the same company.
Go with the tread appropriate for your desired terrain and ride.
I will say any mud terrain sucks in snow. I had trail grapplers and switched to terra grapplers. Off road in snow, the terra grapplers definitely did better in the snow. Pretty dry here in CO too.
Although, I do prefer the look of a more aggressive tread.

trail grapplers are mud terrain tires
& I wouldnt say they suck in snow . There could be better choices such as the duratracs so they claim maybe but if you really were looking for snow tires yould want thin tall tires the trail grapplers will look good and can be used year round . you could always get the duratracs some where else .But they dont look aggressive enough for my liking anyway.(im willing to sacrifice comfort for a look i prefer) theres always a price to pay to have a certain look you want usually.
i guess tires are like oil lol every one feels different what they prefer . Ill be honest ive always gone for a look of something and hope for the best , and if it works well for me ill stay with it . If it dosent i just wont buy them again. but after 6 years of driving on same tires year round in New Hampshire conditions The Nitto Trail Grapplers will be my choice again .

I've run both and always prefer my Toyos. They may be the same parent company but I think they're pretty different tires. The Toyos are much smoother, balance better, wear better, are more quiet and are siped a bit for wet traction. I ran Trail Graps for about 3 months and hated them so much. Just my 2 cents.

Same trail
Two days apart
Ran it with trial grapplers then with terra grapplers.
Significant improvement with the terra grapplers. No winching needed. With the trail grapplers, I had to winch out on a few places.
The siping makes all the difference. The compound is different as well.
