Go with 5.13's since your in a Sport. I just had 5.38's installed in my Rubi last week and it is so much better. As to where to buy, there are several good vendors on here. I bought mine from Rivercity Off-road, Marcus is awesome to deal with. Not sure with you being in Hawaii though, with shipping you might find somewhere better to get them from.

Just curious as to why a 5.13 would be better for a sport than a 5.38? What difference does a sticker on hood make? Is there a difference in transmissions between the two. Or is the motor just more powerful in a Sport, so much so that is doesn't need as much gear? I'm lost here. I am trying to decide what gears I want for my Sahara on 35's. Should I consider my Sahara a sport? Of since it is heavier than a sport should I consider it a Rubicon as far as gear choices?

dana 30... I know u didn't ask me but honestly if it was me i wouldn't put over a 4.88 in a dana 30 because the pinion is very small if you get over that.

The rubicon comes with D44 front axle, all others have a D30. As far as I know, 5.13 is as deep as you can go on the D30 axle.

The popular gear choices for 35s with the 3.8L is 4.88s for manual, 5.13s for an auto.

if i am not mistaken the ring gear does not change size just the amount of teeth on it... The pinion gets smaller, but in almost all cases the ring gear is what breaks, not the smaller pinion.. Also FYI you can get a 5.13 or a 5.38 from richmond and they are essentially the same strength as they have the same tooth count. SO if i had a d30 for some reason and was keeping it id get richmond gears 5.38s...

Not sure I would put anything higher than 5.13 in a D30. Most companies don't make higher than 5.13 for the D30 for a reason.
