Default Rear Speed Sensor Failure.

Just had to have the rear speed sensor replaced again. First time was around 30K miles, now again at 105K. Keeps failing due to corrosion. Anybody else have this issue. Cost me almost $500 to have the dealer fix it this time.

135,000 miles; no problem yet. I'm not looking forward to when it's time to take things apart back there, though.

The sensor is a sealed unit and $23 for the part. Spray some wd-40 at the base where it meets the backing plate and pull it out. You can change it on the ground, with the tires on, with just an 8mm wrench or ratchet/ socket combo and.......10 mins.

They've raked you over the coals for $500 unless they're replacing the tone ring that is pressed on to the axle (which should not be the case- ever).

But no- I haven't had it happen consistently. I lost one right rear sensor around 50k and I'm sitting on 145k now with the same sensor.

$500!?! For a speed sensor? They had to do more than that. It's a 10 minute job!!! Check your paperwork! This just doesn't add up!

Please look and tell us u misunderstood what they did. If not call the police because they just ripped you off like a MF!!

Just got back from the dealership, told me the same thing. They wanted $150 for it. Said rear brakes looked low, $400. Took the worksheet and keys went to parts store, $23 and lifetime warranty; done. Brakes are about $50
