Default Rubicon rock rails

Guys, how effective are the stock rails given that they bolt only to the body ?
Should I be thinking of reinforcing them to the chassis rails ?

On my JK's I have never had an issue with the stock rubi rails. Just depends on how hard on them you are.

I think the stock rubi rails are pretty stout and provide decent protection .
Better than nothing at all, OK for mild wheeling.....

The stock rails are tough. Aftermarket ones, and ones on Hardrock-10AE, stick out away from body which is even better protection, same strength. i wouldn't be worried about them holding up as much as much as how much protection they offer. They offer protection for if you are coming down onto a rock, they don't necessarily offer protection if you slide sideways into a rock (but may still if angles are right). Often I find myself hitting the lower outside of rock rails, in these cases I might hit my doors with the standard Rubicon rock rails.

They seem pretty tough but I guess it depends on what you're using them for. As others have stated they don't stick out very far and I've seen some people add the Barricade or Ace sliders to work in conjunction with the stock ones.

This is not me BTW

The stock rails are quite strong but because they don't stick out far, I was always afraid to use them to pivot on rocks. Added ace rails and now much happier when playing in tight spaces on rocks.

Thanks guys. I guess I'm looking at Ace rails 😊
