What do you use to clean the engine bay (under the hood)?
After several off road rides my engine's compartment is looking filthy.
What to use to clean it up without messing up the components (mostly electrical, rubbers, etc.) under the hood?
Also, how do you wash the under parts of your Jeep?

I use the local self service car wash, but limit the engine cleaning to spraying from underneath. High pressure car wash spray in the engine compartment can be risky.
Under the hood, compressed air and sometimes household spray cleaner. I hate working on cars with crud all over the engine, drivetrain, and suspension.

You can use the can of degreaser from the auto store, but it smells like diesel and takes some time to dissipate. I won't do it again. I now use simple green, full strength. Let it set for about 5 minutes and rinse with garden hose on shower setting.
I've used Castrol super clean but it tends to leave white residue on anything black. I've also used brake cleaner, but you have to be careful not to hit pulling or anything with grease in it as it will penetrate and cause problems.

I have pressured washed the crap out of the engine bay on all the cars I have owned with not a single issue. I do not cover anything, except the intake due to location on the wrangler.

like anything with a pressure washer, it depends on the pressure being used. Bring your rig to my place, let me hit it with 3500 psi, you'll have problems.
