That's a sweet looking 2dr you got there. Is it a dune? Hard to tell on my phone?

Do you have factory 17" wheels? If so, a quality wheel spacer like spydertrax would be an option. Otherwise you need a wheel with backspacing around 4.5" to push the wider tires out some. If you're not disconnecting your swaybar offroad and really letting it flex, I'm sure you'd be just fine without a lift. Even then, 285s may not contact anything..someone will correct me if I'm wrong. I've got 285s but never ran them on my stock suspension, I went with a 2.5" lift and have used spydertrax spacers for a couple years now.

295/70/17 no lift. 1.5 spidertrax spacers.

Thanks, it is Dune! As far as I know I'm the only Dune in my Jeep group, and one of the very few two doors.

She is a work in progress, in still running bumper-less in the back until
My Shrockworks bumper/tire carrier come in next month.

Just saw your pic, awesome looking Jeep, good to see more of them in Dune out there!

In that case I'd check out the Quadratech Moab wheel. Only slightly over your budget, alloy, with the proper backspacing you'll need.

Thanks, I'll take a look.

I found these on Craigslist. It says 12mm offset but the box says 18mm. I just emailed him to check. Backspace is around 5.5 I think. TireRack is saying that fits but I was told 4.5 elsewhere.

Default Wheels

I was told last week that I needed negative or -12 on a set of 18 ×9's.
I don't want them sticking out and talking about 33's or 285-65-18'something.
Mine is a 17 JKU Sahara with 1" spacer in front.

285/70/17 will fit just fine. Even with the stock wheels. The Firestones Destination are probably close to the best, if not the best A/T tire you can buy. The only downside would be the sidewall may not be as strong as the BFG or others. That's not really an issue either unless you wheel hard in a lot of rocks. As far as grip they are exceptional in all conditions. I ran them on my 2014 in the winter because they were so good. Here are a couple pics on mine. Same size as you're thinking. One was on Poison spider trail in Moab And the other in Jackson Hole.
