Yeah that sounds like a good price for one, the jeep will probably stay 2wd for a year or so unless I find a single d44 front for that cheap, I will miss the wheelin but such is life.

Have you asked your your local dealer? I work at a dealership in va and we get and sell mopar Dana 44 housing for $850 to $1000. It's an option as well. An engineer did measurements on one we had and said its 15 or 20% stronger than the duratrac one. Food for thought. You can call my dealership and ask for Joe Bonney and he can tell you more about it. He is the service manager and drives a sweet LJ. 757-539-0214.

I'm assuming you meant Dynatrac, and if you did, there is NO WAY a stock mopar housing is stronger. The Dana 44 is no stronger a housing than the Dana 30 - because most of the components are exactly the same. The Dana 44 has a larger pumpkin. Period. Same tubes. Same yokes.

$1000 for a housing without all the innards is a joke.

D44's are kind of overrated in general.

Especially people who buy Prorock 44's, or Rubi axles for $4500...LOLOLOLOLOLOL. Fun fact: the Sport rear 44 can be upgraded to 35 spline with the ARB super 44 kit (not available for Rubicons). Stronger than a Rubi rear 44. With that $4,500 you can get a rugged D60 for the front.

Read. Learn. Spend your money wisely. When the time for axles comes...I'll be giving my money to Fusion 4x4.

Ive read plenty, a rubicon front for around 2000 will hold me over long enough until I can afford full size axles, Fusion 4x4 is still around 5000 for a front axle, which is over double my budget

Craigslist clover, SC. Has D44 that is a part and has been sleeved. He cut passenger side control arm brackets off and said could weld back on. $1,200 for all minus knuckles and brakes.
