The Jeep J6 Concept from this year's Easter Jeep Safari is the regular cab pickup that we've been dreaming about.

Pure Tease

Make no mistake - the Jeep Gladiator is, by all accounts, an amazing machine. One with nothing less than positive reviews thus far. But many of us were openly optimistic that Jeep would bless us with a regular cab pickup option. That obviously hasn't happened yet, unless you include the J6 Concept they brought to this year's Easter Jeep Safari

Real Looker

Sadly, like the rest of Jeep's Moab-bound concepts, the J6 isn't exactly headed to production. But at least it proves our point that the best looking Jeep Wrangler pickup is, in fact, one with two doors.

More Space

Even better, the J6 also sports a longer bed, so it's much more usable than the tiny thing most modern mid-size pickups have these days. Even if this one carries a spare tire back there.

Add a Foot

The J6's bed is, in fact, a full foot longer than the regular Gladiator bed. But as truck fans know, six feet is a magical number that gives you plenty of room for all sorts of useful stuff you might find yourself hauling.

Two Into One

Creating the J6 wasn't terribly difficult, either. All Jeep had to do was take a Wrangler Unlimited and replace the rear section with a box fashioned from two Gladiator boxes.

Short and Proud

The end result is a vehicle with an identical wheelbase to the Wrangler Unlimited, yet with a slightly longer overall length. But the J6 does have a wheelbase 17 inches shorter than the Gladiator and with 19 inches less overall length.

Less is More

That's a huge difference, obviously, and it creates a vehicle that's much easier to maneuver. The fact that it also looks amazing is just another added benefit.

Lineage

Jeep obviously didn't have to look far to find inspiration for the J6, either. They say that it was inspired by the original J-Series, even if the new one doesn't really look all that much like the old ones.

Vintage Touches

Sure, there are plenty of retro-styled badges. And even a shade of Brilliant Blue inspired by the 1978 Jeep Honcho. But the rest is pretty much all modern Jeep Wrangler.

Make Some Noise

But who cares about all that when you're talking about the Jeep pickup that most of us really want. This thing looks great on 17-inch Beadlock wheels and 37-inch tires, and we also love the rollbar in the bed. Now, we just need Jeep to actually build and sell this thing. And who knows, if we bug them enough, maybe they will, eventually.
