    Default CJ lift recommendations?

So im working on a full restoration with a friend of an 84 CJ. Its going to be a pavement princess and have a nice burnt orange paint job. Plan is to run 33's.

What lift do you guys recommend? Im thinking 4" lift to run the 33's comfortably. Prices seem to be all over the place as far as lifts go and shipping seems to be the big killer because of the weight of the leaf springs.

    Thanks for the help.

Any plans on how you'll do this? A new hybrid TDK frame? Garage fab? If it's a little stiff you could go with a shackle reversal. Just thoughts. I'm planning on narrow track Waggys with outboard shackles reversed on mine.

Buy some spring perches and do a spring over.

For 33s I would recommend the system from Rough country. Its cheap, has all you need, and is well mad. I have their 4in springs on my 76 sprung over with a shackle reversal and small body lift looking for some 44s for my 360 to burn off.

You should probably stay away from Procomp. They ride very rough.

x2 on this one. It gives you a decent ride with about 4" of free lift over stock. Cost? The price of spring perches and a little welding along with some new shocks. That is a LOT better than the price tag associated with an aftermarket kit. The big problem with CJ springs is that they tend to sag over time and show the typical "CJ lean".

This is a lot easier said than done. I have seen guys do this over on the Jeeps Unlimited CJ Forum and it takes a LOT of work. You have to move the fuel tank along with a lot of other mods to the frame. IMO it isn't worth the time and effort. Besides, a CJ should IMO be left as-is. It is a classic. Restore it to original and THEN you will have something.

I have an 84 Cj 7 too. I have a superlift 2.5 inch springs and a 2 inch body lift. If I were to change this, I would go with 4 inch springs instead of a body lift.
I would not recommend a spring over. Rancho is always a good brand for new springs also. I've always heard good things about black diamond and old man emu as well.
    Good luck.
