Default Cibie Z-Beams - what are they? Someone please help!

Guys, am looking to replace my headlights with Cibies. I've seen them referred to as "Cibie Z-Beams" but am struggling to find them. Are these the same as the standard 7" H4s a la Daniel Stern or are "Z-Beams" different?

Anyone got model numbers for them?

Default Z beams

Ran them for many years. The "Z" refers to the light pattern on low beam. Good quality glass replacements that can handle a lot more watts than your factory wiring. They are good headlights and DOT approved with the lower wattage bulbs. The biggest downfall is they are made in France. I see you are in the UK, so you probably won't have a worry over DOT.

Appears people are dancing around the main question as to where you can get them. Not sure some sources say the Cibie Z-beam has been discontinued BUT a company is making a replica of the Z-beam at a more affordable price, might be worth looking into.
Replica Z-Beam

For $20 a housing, I may just try them out, upgrade the wiring, run 2 relays and call it a day.

Of course the Cibie's from Daniel Stern may be the best route versus a replica - Daniel Stern

Thanks guys. Yes, have already shot DS an email and am hoping he doesn't carrier pigeon me the reply back.

They do seem to be discontinued. Have found a single one in stock but that won't really help too much unless I can locate another. Might just go with the DS kit. Was considering the IPF kit but the reviews seem mixed versus all good for the DS kit.

They were made in Belgium and haven't been made since early '92.

I have a set from DS and the spread of light is impressive. I don't know if they'd be legal in the UK; they might be since they don't have the right-hand uptick of typical Euro-beams.

I'd avoid the counterfeits. Scheinwerfermann works in the industry and usually has sage advice.

Terrible shame they aren't made any longer, and the phony/counterfeit ones are junk.
The wash of light from them is functional art. It arcs gracefully from the periphery on both sides of the driver's field, avoids undue foreground spill, and maintains a seemingly linear degree of lux from side to side.

$111 each from Stern.

A problem with the right hand side uptick on the standard Cibies is that if you install these into a UK JK you will be blinding oncoming drivers because they will be on your right side. You need a set with a left hand side uptick and installing them upside down won't help.

Here's the beamshot from the Z-beam on low with Phillips Xtreme Power bulbs. I think you can get Xtreme Visions on that side of the pond as well which are a little better.

Fairly flat at top.

I'd love to match my big Cibie Super oscars with some Cibie headlights.
Seems to be another connection to Stern at www.headlightservices.com.

I was looking for a harness repair get rid of the small H13 connectors and run the Fatboy 2 bulbs. He seems to have a solution. Now I wish Dave didn't jump the gun and ship my order on me, I go with these.
