Default Recon 10.5k Winch on Rugged Ridge XHD stubby

Installed a Recon 10.5k Winch on a Rugged Ridge Stubby XHD modular bumper yesterday. $475 shipped via eBay.
Here are some notes:
The hook for the rope didn't fit, this is part of the kit, I assume it's a defect and not typical. Either the aluminum loop piece is too wide, or the hook area is too narrow, I wrote the company for resolution yesterday, we'll see what happens. For now I'm using a D-Ring.
UPDATE: The company got back to the following business day, since I was getting the free cover offer they are tossing a replacement hook in the box. That's a fine resolution assuming the hook was defective. Hopefully it's G2G.

Install notes:
Install Fairlead first. Fairlead bolts had to be installed with the bolt head on the inside facing out as the clearance was too tight with the bolt heads on the outside because the nut and 2 washers added too much thickness.
Wire length was perfect.
Winch mounts lined up fine, I used the holes closer to the passenger side.
I plan to reverse the two bolts near the spool on the winch itself, the threaded side points at the synthetic line and could cause issues on a bad wind. The back side has a bar across this area, not sure why they didn't just do the same on the front.
The 12' corded control works awesome and feels big and sturdy in the hand.
The wireless works and is also of good size for the hand but has some lag from button actuation to response, this can be a little freaky for that half second you are wondering if it will shut off.
Did a test pull and everything worked fine.
License plate is zip tied for now, will probably get a hawse mount soon.

Photos follow:

Finished: With Cover, hook installed, hawse license plate holder and spring TF leveling kit.

I like the look of the XHD bumper with the winch and hoop.

Make sure you dont keep the winch in the engage mode(sylenoid will stick)...

I have the same recon winch and am very happy with the performance it has pulled me out of a few and it helps me every time i get the boat out of the back yard!

My own, using the Grill Mod techniques outlines in Grill Mod thread. UV Zip ties, 7 individual pieces of trimmed and painted gutter guard from home depot (maybe lowes) and the 1" zip tie fastener squares. I soaked the fasteners in goo gone removed all of the foam adhesives from them and then used fast set epoxy to adhere them to the rubbing alcohol cleaned grill.

Default Follow Up... Still working great.

Have Had my Recon 10.5k for basically 2.5 years now. Haven't used it much, but it's still working greatThe stickers have fallen off so now it's nearly brandless looking except for the cover when it's on and winch line cover. I was really impressed how quickly it yanked me out of this high center stuck I found my self in yesterday:
