26k on an 2007 and the engine blew! Anyone else have this issue?

My cousins 2007 Jeep JK engine just blow up yesterday! It only has 26k on it. The dealer says that this is a common problem with the that year? Poor guy. I have that year so I am wondering if this is going to happen to mine. He regular changed the oil and had it serviced on time.

Anyone else have this issue. It is out of warranty and I hope for his him Chrysler takes care of it. I doubt it.

Any advice on what to do? Or what a new motor cost [engine/labor]. If it was me I would do a V8 Hemi conversion but that is really $$$.

Also, need a good mechanic in SF bay area if anyone knows of one.

Haven't heard that happening too much. Keep a check on the oil as some are known to drink it!!

Just blew up ? Can you be much more specific ?

Knocking overheating heads blew off rod went through pan or did the engine explode in a fireball ?

Saying something blew up is a exaggerated phrase. Without any details or specifics there is no way of telling if and when this happen to your jeep

I blew a head gasket but not the whole engine.

I always see jeep speedshop in petaluma having leftover 6 cyl from swaps. If chrysler/dealer can't do anything for him, these guys might be a good alternative to pick up a motor.

Sorry. Good point. He just said it blew and needs a new one I will get more info.
