"FREE Powertrain Warranty Inspection"
I'm being solicited to bring my wrangler 2008 in for a Lifetime Powertrain Warranty Inspection (for original owner as I am). I've stayed away from the dealreship from day one, except for the couple of easy recalls. I have no records of my service and have not done any service with the dealer. Still they are trying to get me in for the "lifetime inspection". I personally don't trust them and know they will try to squeeze something out of me, like changing the oils in the tranny, transfer case and diffs. or what else at some rediculous price. Anyone have an experience with this inspection and what they are going to try to do to my jeep? I already had the diff oils changed and do my own motor oil changes. I'm thinking of skipping the Lifetime Inspection because it is probably worthless, but would like to hear some experiences. My jeep is not modded much, leveling kit is the only real mod.
Can you tell I hate the dealerships? They are farking idiots. I won't even go there to explain as I have not the time.

In order to maintain the LPW, you have to get your Jeep inspected by the dealer within 30 days of your 5 year anniversary from the day you bought it. Mine is coming up in April/May 2013. Maybe this is what they're referring to? It should be a free inspection.

They just look it over. Others have not reported being asked about maintenance records.
When they suggest any work that needs doing, just tell them you will take care of it.

Well, it you have NO records of the services that you have had performed yourself on the Jeep, then you might as well skip the inspection because if the engine do blow up in the future and you have no proof of the services been done you will have no claim anyway.

Jeep has been looking for any excuse to void that warranty. I keep seeing flyers in the mail about Chrysler wanting to buy up 2008 wranglers because theres "high demand" for them. That's a load of BS. There's no entry in my warranty info about a 5 year inspection.

No sense in voiding the warranty needlessly by not having the free inspection done.

In order to maintain the Lifetime Powertrain Limited
Warranty, the person or entity covered by this Powertrain
Limited Warranty must have a powertrain inspection
performed by an authorized Chrysler, Dodge, or
Jeep dealer once very 5 years. This inspection will be
performed at no charge. The inspection must be made
within sixty (60) days of each 5 year anniversary of the
in-service date of the vehicle. You must have the
inspection performed to continue this coverage.
For your convenience, powertrain inspection logs
have been provided. You should use these logs to
keep track of each 5 year powertrain inspection interval.

Take in and tell them you have proof at home. I took mine in for a recall and they told me my diff fluid looked old... I told them I just changed it 3k miles ago at 35k.. then asked them why they were looking at the fluid if my recall was the leaking door thing

As others stated, you need this inspection to maintain the lifetime powertrain warranty. I have my scheduled on my 5 year anniversary in November. I have a good relationship with my dealership and asked them what all is included and it truly is just an inspection. They do not ask for maintenance records, as my advisor told me, they can tell who has maintained the vehicle and who has not based on fluids and wear. The inspection is just that, they'll look everything over, check fluids, run an electronic diagnosis via the OBD-II and use that information to see if they need to further inspect any of the powertrain. They will also do their multi-point inspection of everything else, as they should, to see if there are an issues that might need to be addressed. Anything found under the LPW will be fixed at no charge and they will ask you about anything else they find outside of the warranty. Anythign outside of the warranty you can decline them to do and it will have no impact on the LPW as it would be components outside of it.
At least my dealership has been really good, I had some seepage around my transmission, took it on for that and a few other small items and they found some stuff had loosened up, so they fixed it and there was no charge to me and no questions asked.

I just had my inspection the other day. They made no mention of needing any paperwork from doing all my own work.
they did my inspection and even fixed a intake leak I had for free.
My jeep is modded. Service manager said he really liked how mine looked.
better take it in or they will VOID your lifetime power train warranty.
