How does your dog do on the trails? I took my basset out with me today, and she did NOT do well. She couldn't stand and looked terrified. I felt horrible so I immediately turned around and dropped her of at the house.

Thanks guys! If any of you happened to drive I-90 to Seattle (or to Spokane) during the summer - fall season, you should check out the trail. You can do this trail in half day... 30~40 minutes to the Fortune Creek Trail from I-90 and 60~90 minutes to the lake. If you are interested, let me know.
Our dog does well on the trail. The entire back seat is basically for her and set up for her to be safe and comfortable... she's got a doggy hammock which prevent her falling off from the seat. Also, she wears doggy seat belt (harness) so that she won't fall off from the Jeep.
We've been taking our dog everywhere for climbing, backpacking etc. since when she was a little puppy (she made it as high as 14,264 ft. the summit of White Mountain Peak in CA). So, she knows off-road (bumpy road) = she's going to have some fun soon. She gets very excited as soon as we enter the off-road.
She gets a bit annoyed (frustrated) if we go on off-road too long... like this one. It was about 6.5 mile up hill and took about 1.5 hour (plus regular NF off-road for 15 minutes before that). When we have to drive off-road that long, we always let her off the Jeep few times on the way... let her wonder, fetch, swim etc.
Pic: Doggy hammock and seat belt harness. She's very safe and secure on and off road... as long as the Jeep doesn't roll over!

Beautiful place! Looks like a fun trail!
The doggy seat belt is a good idea especially if you drive with half doors.

Also, you can get a off-road map, rules and other general info at Cle Elum Ranger District site: http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/wenatchee/cl...orv/index.html
Fortune Creek Trail is in the U.S. National Forest land and you need a Northwest National Forest Pass (available as day pass or annual pass). You can get it at REI and other outdoor stores.
For more info about Northwest National Forest Pass, check out: http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/mbs/passes/

I love your jeep.. and Black Labradors (which your dog appears to be) = love. I have a greystone JK and a 3 year old black lab. Can't wait to take him on some adventures.
