Default Laurel Lakes Labor day weekend

Spent a weekend in Mammoth over Labor Day... Was looking for some trails to run and found this cool trail just outside of Mammoth town. Super fun with gorgous views and not to tecnical. The trail is a out and back and a total of about 10 miles. It switch backs up the mountains to about 10,000 feet elevation to a beautiful remote lake.

Did that trail a couple of years ago. It is a fun one. That's a beautiful meadow along the route. Looks like our had a good time.

Been up there a few times myself. We lived in Bishop for 30 years.Next time try going up to Sand Canyon. North of town you go to Paradise Camp and follow the road to Swall Meadows. Just past Swall Meadows the road starts toward Sand Canyon. Some places are rough but nothing really crazy. When you get up to the top, the road ends up at some small lakes . However, I don't know if you can still drive that far. It's been over 20 years since I've been up there. Also, at some point when you get to the top there is a road that will take you up and over Wheeler Ridge. From there you get a beautiful view of the valley to the East. Wheeler Ridge are the mountains you can see from Hwy 395 as you drive North from Bishop and just North of Mt. Tom. Be careful if you go over the ridge. If you slide off there you can pick up your Jeep at Hwy 395!!
