4 door storage solution

I built some storage racks so that when my doors are off the Jeep they aren't just leaning against the wall risking a fall. Basically I got some 1" PVC, elbow joints, t joints, and glue. We glued the base together and the top is glued but not to the base so it can be removed for easy transportation. We sawed notches in the PVC so the doors sit in the notches and don't slide. And used bungee cords and Velcro straps to hold the doors to the holders. Here are some pictures. If anyone wants a more detailed write up or pictures or anything just let me know.

If you wouldn't mind posting up measurements and a list of parts... I'm looking to build something similar and this looks like an inexpensive alternative.

Great solution. Sinple, inexpensive, effective. Good thinking on not gluing the uppers. I may build these sometime.

I think just putting the measurements and the counts of elbows and T's on this thread would be sufficient for anyone to use the idea. Thaks in advance.

And it looks like thats not the first PVC stand you have. Whats the tall one int he first pic for?

The tall one is how they started. I realized it was way too big so it had to be scaled down.

I will get a list of measurements and supplies and post them later.

Really good looking, I have been pretty adverse to doing racks like this but your design looks pretty solid. Might do this on a platform with casters so I can wheel them around as well.

Materials:
3 - 1" PVC Schedule 40 - they come in 10 ft pieces, 3 should do it but I bought 4 because it was originally way bigger
12 - Elbows
6 - T-Joints
PVC Glue


This is the one for the front doors.


This is for the back doors. It could probably actually be a little shorter but it was already glued together by the time I realized that.


The notches were done with a skill saw. They are 5" from the edge of the T-Joint. The ones for the back door could be a little closer. That is why the padding was added around the top to keep the doors from leaning.

I am also looking into adding 1/2" PVC across the bottom so if the door slips when you are putting it on it will hit that instead of the ground.
