    Default gearing help

I have a 2010 jk sport 4 dr and i was told it has 3:21 gears and was curious if 4:88 or 5:13 gears are better i have 255 x 75x 18 in tires and wheels right now i believe there equivalant to 32 in tires and im planning on going to go with a 3in or 4 in lift and more than likely gonna go with 35 in tires which gears are better for power and gas mileage.

If you go wheeling a lot in Colorado than you might want to get 5.13s with your 35s. 4.88s would cut it, but you may be desiring a little extra oomph.

Either way, measure your tires (actual measured height, not the manufacturer's specs or print on the sidewall), and plug some numbers into the charts found by doing a search for regearing. With a 6 speed, 4.88 is very popular, but cases can be made for both 4.56 and 5.13. Just depends on location, driving style, personal opinion and tolerance, specific setup, etc.

Just do a quick search and make sure you pay attention to who has a manual or automatic. The below threads have some valuable information

Better yet, since Kansas is a giant field the 4.88s would do you great for performance and MPG.

Its a fine line to walk, but with the 5.13s you will have just a little extra something in 4lo. Maybe I didn't see it but auto or 6 speed???

If auto 5.13s would be adviseable, depending on who you ask. I have a six speed but when the time comes, I will gear it as low as possible.
