How to improve your stereo sound with your hardtop removed
A while back I discovered that the stereo sound is toned down when the hardtop is removed. If you have your stereo playing while you disconnect your hardtop harness, you'll her the sound go kinda flat. I posted on the electrical section asking if anyone had figured out a way around it, but never got any constructive replies. So I decided to go and figure it out for myself.
First, make a little jumper harness
Second, insert the jumper into the female connectors for the purple/white wire and the ground wire
You'll hear the stereo cut out for a quick second, and then it comes back on with a crisper/fuller sound. I still can't figure out why Jeep decided this was a good idea, but I figured out a way around it.

Interesting, I've never noticed a difference. When I put my hardtop on next month I'll have to play with the connection. I have no idea why Jeep would do that either.

What about jumpering these two wires behind the plug? Would this have any adverse effect? It seems the stereo would never receive a signal that the top was removed, then the jumper would not be needed. Am I overlooking something?

why the fuck would they do that.... its kinda like how the sound bar speakers dont get enough power from the amp cause they have some sort of limiter on it, making them sound like asssss.

I just confirmed that connecting the violet/white wire with the black/ground wire results in better sound on my 2011 JKU with infinity system and hardtop removed. Thanks for the tip folks!

Even with the hardtop connector plugged in (or jumped) the sound bar speakers are way quieter than the dash speakers. Has anyone figured out how to defeat this "feature"?
I'm sure the sound bar speakers are turned down because the lawyers figure it might be too loud for somebody's ears. Right. In a top-down JK running the freeway between two semis we are worried how loud the speakers are? Would somebody please save me from the people who are trying to save me from myself?

I suspect that it would be.. Which seems ironic. Since without the hardtop, you'd want the stereo LOUDER, not quieter.... now you have to turn it up even more to compensate?? Ridiculous.
And although I'm sure your theory has something to do with it, its still outrageous.
