Default AEV Pintler Wheels - Cracking

Has anyone experienced a problem with their Pintler Wheels cracking? I've got a set on the Argent with 35" BFG Mud Terrains on them. Coming home from the desert the other day I got a TPS alarm . The tire still had plenty of air in so I just rolled on down to the local tire shop to have them fix the slow leak. Figured I'd picked up something in the desert. Well they pull the wheel and low and behold they find a crack where one of spokes enter the rim. So I have them throw the spare on and I call AEV the next day. They have me send a copy of my invoice and a picture of the wheel and say they will replace it. So the replacement is on the way as soon as they get stock in. So on Saturday I'm out in the desert coming back from a quail hunt and here's another TPS alarm. Back to the tire shop and find another crack in the same location (different wheel). I'll call AEV tomorrow with this new information but now I'm starting to wonder what is going on. My jeep is basically a hunting rig and does not experience severe abuse. The worst thing I can think of is maybe a slight speed run down one of our long dirt roads certainly nothing that should break a wheel. I've never cracked a wheel before on anything in the past.

That sucks....I have had my Pintlers rolling on 35's for over a year, and have wheeled the crap out of them.... I mostly do rock crawling too. My very outer edge on three of my wheels have large paint chips/scratches, but my wheel have held up great I love them....I think if i were to do them again, I would have gotten the bead locks.....

AEV seems to have great customer service....I had lost the center cap yellow AEV logo somewhere on the highway only a couple months after installing them, called up AEV, and was willing to pay for a couple more(extra just in case), but the guy said no problem, and sent me a pack of 4 free of charge and no shipping...

That sucks to hear! I'm glad they're taking care of it for you. It's been my experience that "spoke" type wheels are prone to cracks at that location. Anytime I've had a wheel crack, that's where it's been. Between my wife and I we've had 4-6 cracked wheels in the past 5 years, all have been spoke "type" wheels, and all have been aluminum. We've never had a problem with other wheel types or materials. BUT, the roads in Jersey seriously suck, and the highways have potholes!

I haven't heard of that, but it is good that they are taking care of it. I have always had great service from them when I have had issues, and this is why I keep going back to them.

Great News! I just spoke with Mike Reckling at AEV and he is sending me 5 new wheels Fed Ex today! Said he wanted to ease my mind with any concern on the other wheels. You can't beat customer support like that!

Now that is great customer service. one wheel, you could chalk that up to a flaw ar freak incident, but 2 is probably something going on and I'm sure AEV does not want that happening. They are a good company and glad they are taking care of you.

I was thinking of these wheels, has the flaking finish been corrected?
