    Default Best Beadlocks

I am researching for the best beadlock bang for your buck wheel. It must be DOT approved for highway use. It also must be a high quality offroad crawler quality wheel. Let me know your experiences both positive and bad. Also post pics if you got em! Thanks!

$1000 takes all five. They don't make these wheels anymore but from what I can find, they are usually going for about $3-450 a wheel. YES I am willing to ship.

    Default Beadlocks are awesome

Wheel choices: Nothing against AEV, I owned a set and my best friend still runs a set on his JK....However, they really aren't hard duty use wheels when compared side by side with other manufacturer's beadlocks. I now view them more as an occasional "weekend warrior's" wheel. After I trashed my set I went back to Walker Evans and realized why I love them (Walker Evans), they are made for serious use. If the back order on Spiderlock wheels not been so outrageous, I would have purchased those. In fact I really wanted ATX Slabs (which are really the same wheel as Spiderlocks) but they were not yet in production for purchase and the only set being run was on Mel Wade's EVO1 JK from Off Road Evolution. So, Walker Evans it was. Find a wheel you know you can walk out to your rig everyday and say "damn, I like the way those look". Spiderlocks, ATX Slabs, Racelines, Trail Ready, Walker Evans are all serious competition wheels that have sponsored racers riding on them. That speaks volumes about a wheels ability, and something I use as a reference for my purchase. I have never seen a sponsored offroad rig racing on AEV's. I will leave it at that. Heck, even the Mopar wheels (made by Hutchinson) for sale above are great, serious use wheels. The military has been using Hutchinsons for a long time and I ran them on a few of our desert gun trucks in Special Forces with out any issues.

Wheel material: Steel is cheap, somewhat repairable on the trail....but it is heavy. So combinea heavy wheel and heavy tires, it will be harder to balance. And more importantly I look at the rotational mass and unsprung weight, the more you can do to reduce both of these on any type of vehicle, the better that vehicle will react under steering, braking, acceleration etc. I vote always on a high quality aluminum wheel that I see on a sponsored race vehicle. If a 500-1000+ HP Class 1 Trophy Trucks running the BAJA 1000 or SCORE races and the rigs running the King of Hammers can run Walker Evans, Racelines, ATX, etc., they will probably suffice for me.

As for legal/DOT compliant....well that is something you need to personally make a decision on how much weight this carries versus if you want to run a true heavy duty, serious use wheel. Also, the laws from state to state are sometimes pretty foggy on this issue. I choose to run beadlocks and lets just say I have been on true beadlock wheels on my jeeps and tow rigs for almost 15 years now with no issues. I figure if the Trophy Trucks driving the Baja peninsula at 100+mph speeds on beadlocked wheels, they will most likely work for me around town and on the hwy.
