HELP with Rock Krawler upper rear control arms

Default HELP with Rock Krawler upper rear control arms

I have a 2.5 inch coil lift on a JK 4 door and I'm installing new RK Front/Lower and Rear/Upper control arms.

My problem:

Trying to install the rear upper control arms, they are adjusted to the shortest length and they are still too long. My stock upper control arms measure 17 3/8 inches from center hole to center hole. The RK ones measure 18 3/8 at their shortest??? From talking to others on the forum I should make the initial adjustment 1/4 inch over stock. That aint happening.

What am I doing wrong?

Ive checked their site and other sites and they apper to be the correct ones. What am I missing here. Is there special rear upper control arms I need for a 2.5 inch lift? The directions that came with them are NO HELP!!

I'm getting ready to put everything back together with the stock shit. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

where did you get the 1/4" over stock measurement? you should set the length of your rear upper arms so that your pinion angle is in line with your drive shaft. this is actually a necessary step if you're installing a new rear u-joint style drive shaft but, you can do this with a factory shaft as well. there should not be a specific set measurement for this as the angle will determine the length they need to be.

Maybe that's my issue 1/4 inch over was for front lower. now that I'm looking closer that was my misunderstanding. Planman sent me a note that pinion angle should be 1 - 2 degrees less tha the drive shaft. So should I install them as they are and adjust them once everything is on the ground?

Like wol said u need to set your rear upperarms so the diff pinion is pointed at the tcase.
Use a jack under the pinion to get the height u want. Also loosen the axle side lower arms so u don't bind the bushings.

Should the final adjustments be done when everything on the ground or can't you do it that wAy?

you can put your rear axle on 2 jack stands, remove your wheels, make your adjustments and torque everything down. put your wheels back on and call it a day.

Our rear upper arms are designed to be used with our "longer set" of rear lowers to allow pushing of the rear axle back a little bit. It makes clearing 37's on 2.5" or 3.5" of lift with flat fenders a snap and will have no issues trimming the pinch weld seam...
