Default An Improved Grab Handle Solution

I had been looking for grab handles, and puking over the cost of the commercial options, when I read German's solution on this board. I liked the solution a lot, but wanted a nicer handle.

After much googling for grab handles, I found handles on the website of Chesapeake Light Craft, a wooden kayak kit manufacturer. It's now been moved to the top of the page. I paid $6.50 per handle for two handles, plus $6.00 shipping, for a total cost of $19.00. I ordered the handles online on Sunday, and they arrived today via USPS.

    The handles look like this:

I followed German's directions for installation of the handles, and they look great! They really look like they came from the factory. Best of all, I ended up with two handles for less than some of the vendors are asking for one.

    The finished product:

Thanks to German for the great idea!

Is the handle part rubber, plastic or foam?

If it is rubber does it look like it can handle taking a beating, meaning, is it fairly plyable yet strong?

Awesome. Bought a set, they look like they match the front handles I already have.

After buying them, the guy from the company emailed me because I explained why I was buying them.

He said he just got a big shipment, and is going to decrease the price of shipping a little (at least, that's what he told me). He said he was wondering where this huge run on them came, but apparently someone from here called him a couple days ago as well.

These don't. You just buy some normal mastercraft or similar handles that have velcro straps. These wrap around your roll bars.
