Throttle response is one of the significant improvements I have noticed with PCM programming provided by my Flashpaq.

My mantra: Gear your JK down and stop the incessant whining.

I agree with the OP, the engine is completely satisfactory given the application.

I'm with you. While I think they should have more power like it has been mentioned before, 4.7L V8 standard and an optional 5.7L Hemi, the power that is there is fine.

I will never argue more power or bigger engine, but for what I want/expect it does great.

Default try this...

Living here where the land is flat the 3.8 works just fine...for me anyway. Now I am running 33's with 5.13 gears on an auto 4dr but with the Rubi transfer case off road is a breeze... i sold my bikes and vette cause I now have two little girls i want to spend time with For those that don't like the motor go drive a YJ with the 2.5 four banger for ten minutes JK is a monster comopared to that setup

Power is OK, except when the engine is completely submerged, then it's a little unresponsive.

Wants v needs, THRILLS.

If you want to pull a big boat, want to swiftly run the 1320 or want to do smoky burnouts, there are any number of trucks and cars that will foot the bill.

with that said i can blow by other vehicles going up a steep hill in 5 gear going 120kmh and still accelerating why do i need more power in my 3.8L

Mine really isn't that bad here in CO. I can't tell a big power drop off (from sea level) here around town at ~5400', but i can tell a difference in the mtns. However, the 4.10 gears and 6 speed get the job done just fine. I suspect that my CAI and flashpaq help, but I'm not 100% certain on that because I had them installed before I moved here. They definitely did help with the power, just not sure if it helped minimize the power loss at altitude or not...

Default SuperChips Flashpaq Turner WTF!!!!!!

Well, I just got a new Flashpaq from Northridge4X4 ($308 shipped to the door). I didn't know what to expect but I know the lathargic performance of the JK could do with a bit of an upgrade.

Downloaded the update via the net, no problems.

Plugged it in, and stored the stock turne, no problems.

Uploaded the 93 tune as is with no modifications.

WTF!!!!!!!!! dudes this thing is great!

It livens up the motor a lot, and I am impressed. I was thinking about the three bills outlay, but its worth it.

Now the JK has much better acceleration...crap, in fact it shoulda been this way from the factory.

Opinion: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED A+ A definate improvement that you can see and feel. Good on y'all SUPERCHIPS ROCK DUDE!
