I don't know that you need to add spacers to the front for a heavy bumper and winch - I didn't. In fact, I had to add a spacer to the rear because the front would have been higher than the rear without the spacer. Do you have a 2 door of 4 door? You may want to try it first before automatically adding a spacer up front.

OTOH - even without a spacer up front, you may want to check your brake lines. I checked mine on a ramp and there was a little stress, but not much. On a friend of mines, who has a 2 door and the TeraFlex shocks, there was a good amount of stress on the lines at full flex.

The rear ones with the standard setup is fine.

If you start adding spacers beyond what comes with the kit you will be heading into 3"+ kit - which gets you into potentially looking at all of the extra items (arms, drive shaft, etc.).

If my wheels have 4.25" backspacing, should I install the boltheads as Teraflex instructs or as you discussed at the beginning of this thread?

I have 4.7" of backspacing in my wheels and have plenty of clearance to mount the links in the stock position. In theory with your wheels you should have even more room. If you have enough room I don't see any reason why you wouldn't mount them in the stock position.

I think the only benefit of mounting them differently is that you may be able to get away with the lift and stock wheels and no spacers.

Default teraflex 2.5 coil lift spring kit additional notes

well, i just finished my 2.5 teraflex coil kit with shock adaptors install and took it in the back pasture for a test flex run.

im still using stock rubicon wheels and tires(32").

heard this awful noise and couldnt see what was causing it.

got back to the shop and the wheel inner lip had shaved the bolt head on the sway bar upper bolt at full tuck on the rear passenger side.

others have had this problem.

i did mount it correctly with the links on the inside of the swaybar(between the sway and the frame) and the nut was facing the frame.

i was hope'in that i wouldnt have to have spacers but that dream has been killed.

DAVID I NEED SPACERS STAT! i got wheeling to do saturday am.

hurry hurry

on a side note, the lift is awesome.

the jeep feels like it is waaaaayyyyyy taller that 3" from the driver seat going down the road. kinda has that -i could tip over really easy- feeling!

I LIKE IT

went it pretty quik once i rented some spring compressors for the front spring install.

i went from 34" in front and 35 3/8 rear to 37 3/4 front and rear. it completely leveled it out

my winch and aev front bumper with aev skid plate had really pulled down the factory front spings and the teraflex didnt even notice the weight!

ever since i installed the bumper and winch setup the steering wheel has been offcenter, now after the install it is off in the other direction the same amount. will fix that in the daylight, im tired. its 245 am here and i have had enough, still gotta work tomorrow.

the ride is stiffer to be sure but i like that too.....feels more jeepy.

Texas Trailmaker - Yeah, if you can get it to work safely without spacers or wheels with the proper backspacing then I would consider you lucky. I think most people get spacers or wheels because the clearance without them is very tight.

Other than that, glad to hear all went well. Post a pic or two if you get a chance.

Thanks. If you have any questions just post 'em up. There’s a lot of experience with the lift. Remember the instructions that come with the lift are a bit lacking, so read what you get and verify how the parts are to be installed and verify you got everything before you start. And don't forget to post some pics.
