Default Don't buy Mopar

I am not sure if this is the forum to air dirty laundry but if not, I am sorry for my venting. I purchased a Mopar off-road bumper because I liked the look but it has turned out to be a poor decision. I was in a small accident and tore one of the crush can covers. Now, I am being told by Mopar that I will have to replace the entire bumper to get one of the covers. That brings the total up to $950.00 for a $745.00 bumper. I would not be as upset if this was a beater but my jeep only has 1400 miles on it.

Does the similar Warn bumper have crush can covers? How about putting on AEV crush can covers? Call them both and see before spending that much on the Mopar bumper again. Good luck.

I hate to tell ya, but pretty much everything on your Jeep is made by Mopar (or at least by Chrysler, who owns Mopar).

My guess is that they would have told you the same thing had it been the factory bumper. But the previous poster is right... insurance should pay for it.

Make insurance just give you a check then go aftermarket...take a lemon and make lemonade!

Lemons to lemonade is easy. Try turning a sheet of plywood into a winch!

Is it just me, or is your math off?

One Mopar bumper: $745 (2 much by the way, Quadratec is about $200 over dealer MSRP)
Two Mopar bumpers $950 ???? (shouldn't the total be $1490 for 2?)
Learning how to count : priceless

Ok sorry, maybe I'm missing something price wise. All joking aside, Insurance should put it back like you had it, which if that means having to buy the whole bumper, that's what they do.

Good catch! The original price was $475, not $745. Unfortunately, insurance will not cover because it was not turned in. The crush can cover was torn off by another family member so the problem just gets more complicated.

I guess next time I know not to buy Mopar accessories!

All I know about Mopar is the locking gas cap I bought is a piece of crap. I can't even get the damn thing to lock half the time.
