Default 2012 JKU Rubi Check Engine Light Misfire Cylinder 6

A check engine light illuminated on my 2012 Rubi JKU (10,800 miles) this past Sunday. The code indicated "misfire cylinder 6". Took it to Maxwell Jeep in Austin Monday morning and got a call Monday afternoon saying it was ready to be picked up. The service rep said they flashed the computer with a program update and that the problem was solved.

I picked it up this morning and drove it for about 20 miles before the check engine light illuminated once again. Took it back to the dealer and received a call this afternoon saying that they were going to have to go into the engine to find the problem and should know something by tomorrow afternoon.

Has anyone else had a similar problem?

No, but that sucks!! Good Luck!! Hopefully the dealership won't screw anything up. I would have them pull the sparkplug and see what it looks like. Maybe its cracked.

We have seen some valve problems at the dealer I work at. That may be the culprit. We have had to many heads off of pentastars.

taking the head[s] off a penastar is not any fun
esp. at warranty time rate.

Having the same problem 2012 JKU Rubi.. been to 2 seperate dealers a total of 4 Times. Today is indicated multiple misfires. Sitting a stop light started to vibrate like it was running out of gas. Starting to think I should have stayed with Toyota 20 years and never saw the dealer LOL

Spoke with the service advisor this afternoon and was told the driver's side cylinder head would have to be replaced. Now here is where it gets good...I was told that Maxwell Jeep in Austin doesn't have the tool required to change the head and had to order one from SnapOn. Was told that the SnapOn rep didn't make deliveries until tomorrow and that my jeep should be be ready sometime next week.

Came straight home and called Jeep Customer Care and explained the situation. They assigned me a case number and said that they had a hard time believing that Maxwell would not have a tool to change out the cylinder head when the same engine had been used in other Chrysler vehicles for a while now. They said they would call me within 24 hours with some firm idea of when my jeep would be repaired...I'll update this thread after I speak with Jeep Customer Care tomorrow.

i just threw p0456 i thought it was because i just installed the psc evap skid and maybe one of the hoses came lose. checked the hoses and cleared the code, i drove home about 30 miles and threw another code, got home checked the code and it was p0302 misfire cylinder #2, i cleared the code with my procal and drove another 20 miles. throughout all the driving the car has always felt fine. i currently don't have any codes showing, should i worry? should i just be safe and take it to the dealer? i have 9700 miles

YES!!!!

You want as much recorded information as possible on record. Everytime a light comes on. In the end, it helps your case. You should write down egerytime you take it to the dealer as well as what happens there.
